Timing is important – if you take a pregnancy test too early, it might show a negative result (not pregnant) even if you are pregnant!
To get an accurate pregnancy test result, you should take the test:
- 14 days after you had sex, or
- at least one day after your period is late.
If you have questions about when to take a test or about the results of a home test, you can always call your doctor or a clinic like Planned Parenthood to ask questions. You also can get a test at a clinic. For clinics near you, click here.
