Yes.

Foster youth of any age have the right to get birth control confidentially and on their own, just like teens who are outside the foster care system.

They also have the right to choose what kind of birth control they want to use.  This right comes from the state Constitution and state law, including a law called California Welfare and Institutions Code 369.  If your placement, group home, or foster home is not letting you go to a doctor or get the care you want, talk to your dependency lawyer or social worker, or contact us.
